Reverberations, Book of Poems

$28.00

Reverberations is a book of place-based poems and illustrations created by Melody Joy Overstreet. This collection came together during an Artist in Residency with the On Being Project. The book speaks to themes of memory, intimacy, nature, sensuality, the body, and change. The work was written in reflection of the questions, “What does it mean to be human?,” and “What does it mean to live well in a place, together?” This book contains songs of grief and praise for life’s profound beauty, and are distillations of thought that convey a lightness and tenderness of being.

This book is printed in full color on partially recycled archival paper and contains gestural images that were originally created with a handmade ink prepared from river water and locally foraged redwood cones. Reverberations is printed in a small batch by Reciprocal Field Press in connection with Community Printers in Santa Cruz, California.

Here is some praise for Reverberations:

“Both the poetry and brushwork in Reverberations are exquisite, the gift of a cool stream rippling through our muscles, gently easing the stressed-out tension that hides us from the many-voiced eloquence of the local earth."

- David Abram, Author of Spell of the Sensuous: Perception and Language in a More-than-Human World, and Becoming Animal: An Earthly Cosmology.

“Reverberations is a marvel—visually glorious, and the poems a true balm for the soul.”

- Gary Young, First Poet Laureate of Santa Cruz County, and Author of Pleasure, Hands, and No Other Life.
